Iron And Wine — Boy With A Coin (ver 2) Tab

  Rate this tab:
As an avid Iron and Wine listener and finger picker, I have found the holy grail! This
song is one that I know a ton of you have wanted to play. This is probably the most
tab out there. I don't know what you have read or seen in the past, but this is probably
most accurate. I rated this song advanced because it requires much finger picking skill
accuracy, plus a natural groove and rhythm. It's also VERY difficult to sing over.

And for the record, if there are ever notes in parentheses, they are optional; I think
makes it a little easier to flow from one part to the next without sounding wrong.

Sam Beam does 4 different finger picking parts:

The Pickup (First 3 Intervals)
Fingering:

e—————————|
B——/3—1—0—| Index, Middle, or Ring Finger [I think Middle is Easiest]
G———0—————|
D——/4—2—0—| Thumb
A—————————|
E—————————|
(when doing this little riff, the Open G isn't necessary)

and then the 3 separate versions of the same thing:

==============Part 1============

"Cmaj Shape"
Chord: Cmaj (pinky on 3rd fret of e String)
Fingering:
   T I T M R
e————————————3————————————|
B————————0h1————/3—1—0————|
G————0———————————0————————|
D——————2————————/4—2—0————|
A——3——————————————————————|
E—————————————————————————|

==========Part 2=============
"Em Shape"
Chord: Em

Fingering:
*RM= Ring or Middle Finger

    T T *RM T
e———————————0————————————————|
B——————————————————/3—1—0————|
G———————————————————0————————|
D——(2)——2——————2———/4—2—0————|
A——(2)———————————————————————|
E———0————————————————————————|

==========Part 3=========
"Alternate Cmaj Shape"
(This one is the hardest)
Fingers:
   T I R M
e————————3p0————————————————|
B—————————————1———/3—1—0————|
G—————0————————————0————————|
D————————————(2)———/4—2—0———|
A——3————————————————————————|
E———————————————————————————|

Okay, now this is the most difficult part of all———playing them in order.

You start out with the intro, and then play the parts in this order:

(Pickup)...then
1—2—1—2—|
3—2—1—2—|
1—2—3—2—|
1—2—1—2—|
