From: t.j.strom@ub.uio.no (Trond J. Stroem)

Authors for Jesus Christ Superstar was Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim
Rice (lyrics).

I have saved some files with chords for this rock opera that were posted
on the Net earlier; here is a repost. Hopefully the original poster's name
is still in there somewhere!

The complete lyrics to Jesus Christ Superstar is found on the original
1970 album, with Murray Head as Judas and Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) as
Jesus. I think the CD reissue has the lyrics as well, but I am not sure.
(The original version lacks one song that was added in the movie, called
"Then We are Decided" or something similiar.)

PILATE'S DREAM (Pilate)

[4/4]
  Bbm Ebm Ab7
I dreamed I met a Galilean
  Bbm Cb
A most amazing man
  F7 F7+ Gb Ebm6
He had that look you very rarely find
    F7 Bbm
The haunting, hunted kind

  Bbm Ebm Ab7
I asked him to say what had happened
Bbm Cb
How it all began
  F7 F7+ Gb Ebm6
I asked again, he never said a word
  F7 Bbm
As if he hadn't heard

Bb Bb7
And next the room was full
   Ebm Ab
of wild and angry men
               Ab7
they seemed to hate this man
     Db (tacet)
they fell on him and then
F7 (tacet)
they disappeared again

Bbm Ebm Ab7
Then I saw thousands of millions
Bbm Cb
crying for this man
    F7 Gb Ebm6
And then I heard them mentioning my name
    F7 Bbm
And leaving me the blame

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM (Mary Magdalene)

Note: The A9 in the last measure of each verse is actually an "A9sus (no
G)" Try fitting THAT over the word "else". Ah, limitations, limitations.
The chord is actually very easy to play if you use some untraditional
fingering/positioning across the progression of that line of the verse.

I ONLY WANT TO SAY (GETHSEMANE) (Jesus)

(IMHO this is probably THE most powerful piece in the entire show. A true
perfect blend of Lloyd—Webber and Rice at their finest! This is a
difficult tune to put into ASCII, mainly because the bulk of the piece is
arranged orchestral, and even on piano it's hard to capture the magic of
this work... here goes nothing... ad lib where deemed appropriate)

I'd wanna know I'd wanna know my God (x2)

  Why I should die

  Bbm Ab Gb F
Would I be more noticed than I ever was before?

  Bbm Ab Gb F
Would the things I've said and done matter any more?

I'd have to know I'd have to know my Lord (x2)
