Instead of actually plucking, hit the string at about a 45 degree angle — don't worry if the string doesn't really sound, Edge doesn't seem to. What you're basically doing is thumping the strings for all they're worth, and expecting a far from clean sound. —If more help is needed on this, such as "what the hell is this guy talking about", mail me, and I'll be happy to oblige.
